October 24 Donation WheelSome of the guys at the Mass Cruisers asked me if I could make anything out of a 23" tire. The purpose is to collect any donations at the cruise nites and shows. It made it's debut at the last cruise nite at Patriot Place on the 22nd. It was received very well. garage saleCheck out the pics and E mail me for prices. Its all FORD stuff and I 'm sure that there is more to come. October 04 Lack of contentI know, what the hell have I been doing? Shameless selfpromotion of my stuff or anyone elses stuff can't be done if I do not sit down and type it out. Truth be told I have been very lax in the coverage this year. I'm sorry, If it was not raining (and boy did it rain this year) or I had technical problems with the camera, etc, etc. It seems that I went no where. I did take in quite a few excellent shows and cruise nites. I really want to do some more but everyone says this when the window of opportunity starts to close. Sure I will drive the cars around for a while longer but what I'm really looking forward to is another long trip. I have to say that the Musclepalloza show was the best of me this year because it proved the road worthyness of Orange. It rained,so what! It sucked to have to really clean the car when I got there but that was half the trip. 434 miles and not a drop of oil burned and not one mechanical noise out of place. I must say.......I'm proud of my self. Not to short sell my brother in law Mark. His Malibu kicked ass and ran just as well.however he is a mechanic by trade so I would expect nothing less. (Sorry Mark) Mark is currently swapping out the 10 bolt for a 12 bolt posi. NOW he will be a real terror on the road!!!!! The first place he will light them up will be in front of his house. The second place will be my house.
Rick and Paula got their rides out this year too. Well, Rick always manages to get his car back together in time but poor Paula . Her 35 had nothing but mechanical problems for the past 2 years. It sat in the garage collecting dust. The call went out and Mark got into it. Fuel, timing, air you name it and to top it all off.........a bumble bee in the fuel line!!!!!!!!!! No, I'm serious. A BEE!!!!! He did manage to save it and it now resides in a glass bottle on the shelf.
My other brother in law Mike was not so lucky this year. Work. No he was not laid off or anything like that. In fact he has a ton of it which is why he missed out on the cruise nites and shows. He was not completly out of the hobby though. He did manage to build a new annex to the garage. 24x16 x14 high. With a lift.! Hard work does pay off but we did miss him at the events. Hopefully he will be in full attendance next season.
I will try to get some more pictures before the season is over. Maybe even sit down and type up some more crap. Don't forget that the October Stafford is on the 18th in Stafford Springs CT.
August 29 Past Thursdays cruise niteThis past Thursday nite was a friggin zoo. Where else can you go on a cruise nite at the Bass Pro in Foxboro and be inindated with ove 1600 cars? No where! That is right, 1600. Not enough time to see them all let alone a quarter of them. Totaly amazing and all very well behaved. Yes, the Cops were out but what would you expect . Crowd control I would call it. Pictures you say?????? Yeah well, I thing that may be time for a new camera or something that has a better battery life.. Next week the blue machine will make it's way out to the South Easton Cruise. Shall we call it the maiden voyage. August 22 DrivenIt is now on the road. A few test shifts in the driveway. One spin down the street. A quick jaunt down to the gas station. No leaks but it seems alittle sluggish. I think that some fine tuning is in order. None the less after close to a year it lives and breaths. August 19 We now have a driveshaftDropped it off with Mark and he brought it up to South Shore Bearing today. They called back around 1pm an said that it was done. Needless to say I was quite supprised. Also needless to say the part was put in as soon as I was home. A few hoses and 500 will be ready to take a spin around the block. That and set of hood pins. August 16 mass cruisersAugust 08 Alive, It's alive!Due to the rain, the vacations and other such delays there has not been much progress at the old West St. . Sure, Mike's garage addition has been progressing but slowly. I on the other hand have been some what idle. However with the weather break and a few late nites.(Honey, to late to run the grinder!) I have the following anouncement. ......The 460 LIVES!!!!!!!!! After much work and replacing parts that were once new(water pump and fuel pump swap out) Mike and I started the beast up last night. Temporary set up for right now. I have to wire and plumb correctly still. The motor banged over second try. Every surface smoked and burned off what ever was on it. We got smoked out of the garage and that is with some industrial fans running too. Today I will wire and plumb it up right and get it outside to restart it. It's nice to see some completion. More to come soon ....I hope! July 03 Been a whileIt's been a while since I wrote anything here so I will give it a try. due to the monsoon season that is currently in the Northeast cruise nites have sort of been put on a holding pattern. Not to say that the car is afraid of some watter but I have been caught in 2 monsterous T storms and it sucked. Sure the old Ford made it out alive but the clean up is the killer. So I have been craming on the 500. Exhaust is 90% done cooling is 90% done. Ordered a dizzy from Procomp Electronics. 750 Holley DP is on the way too. My buddy Mike gave me a C6 yoke so now I have to measure for a driveshaft. I would like to say that the car will be turned over by the end of the month but driving may turn out to be a little longer. June 13 Tasca 09The 12th Annual Tasca Ford show is in the books and we could not of had a better day. Props for Cruisin Bruce and a show off with out a hitch. All toled 80+ cars were in some very nice stuff as always. We had 3 Cougars and one was a survivor 428 Eliminator car. Very Nice!!! Some of the locals were not able to attend they were missed. Bob Sr. was also mia due a health issue. Get well soon Bob. As they say pictures say a thousand words so check out the pics
June 06 Bass pro june 4thOver 600...... That is right over 600 cars on a Thursday night. There is some stuff that is comming out of the wood work. The exiting is a little on the long side but as long as you are not in a rush then climb up on the hill and watch some nice rides leave. May 29 Musclepalloza 9Well I went up with Mark on Sunday. the day started off dark and some what gloomy. Driving from the house up to Rick's place in Walpole was uneventful. but as soon as I got on to the highway the rain fell. I mean it fell up!!!!!! I hated to drive up in the rain but it's only a car right? The rain lasted from Walpole to Framingham. After Framingham the weather was nice all the way to NY. However the car did not look like my Orange that left the house that morning. Talk about dirt. The ride itself was good though. Smooth,no oil burning ,no wierd noises. We were maybe the 40th car there but then the lines really picked up... The selection was nice, lots of Mopar. The drags were great too. In all, after 434 miles round trip, and 6 hours driving round trip door to door, worth it!!!! May 19 Memorial weekendGetting ready for the big road trip. West Labannon NY. It will be a long day but I think that it will be worth it. I think that I will be starting out around 5am pick up another dude. From there staright out to the Pike and hook up with everyone at the Natick rest area. We should be departing around 6:30 from there. I will be bringing extra batteries and hopefully have excellent weather for pictures not to mention the drive up and back. May 10 First Bass proThe first Bass Pro was good but cut short by rain. However the new Camaro did show up as well as Dave Perowitz's new Factory 5 34 coupe.
A sweet 70 Cuda rolled in as well. Not a lot of pics, sorry . Thank the rain for that. April 20 The season is off to a busy startThat is right, the season has gone off with a bang! April 16 was the first cruise at the South Easton Tech school. and I must say that the crowd was quite good. 3/4 of the lot was filled up. Lots of the usual folks were there. These were some new cars there as well. A lot of Nova's were present as well as the usual Vetts. A very nice Yellow Caddy was these as well ar a nice 68 Chevelle wagon.. Although I did get some pics the evening was spent chatting it up.
Saturday the 18th the South Shore Buick dealer ship closed. Lots of good deals were to be had at the auction. At the same time some of the items were spriced a little on the dumb side.
Then the Fitchburg show on the 19th. Loaded and great weather. This swap meet is really for the older stuff. No great deals only because the everyone is tring to get the top dollar they can. The old wheeling and dealing was not in full effect. The car show that was there was quite nice to. At least 150 cars were there, most of them were street rods or customs . There were some very nice muscle there, however.
So, After along weekend of car stuff back to the grind. We here in MA. have Monday off or at least some of us do. That means that the stuff I blew off now has to get done. April 01 Can you smell it??????April is here and that means the registration on the car is now valid. That is right VALID. This now means that I can go get the inspection sticker that I missed in October. This also means that the cruise nites are just around the corner. Late around the corner is the announcement of the Wheels of time and their cruise nite everyother Thursday. Well starting April 16th the wait is over. The South Easton Regional High School is the venue and the secne will be the same as always and that is ok with me.
I did finally get my headers from Crites but.......I did not get the motor mounts. They were to be shipped in the same box but were not. Oh well. March 15 The waiting gameLet the waiting game begin. As stated before ....I hate waiting. But now and then everyone has to do something that they do not like to do. Like visiting the Mother in Law.....etc.etc. I ordered the motor mounts and the headers from Crites. One of the club guys has a c6 tranny cross member for me so when the mounts come in the fun will really begin. I guess while I wait I can bleed the brake lines.
On a slightly different note I was able to start Orange due do the warm weather up here in the Northeast. The season is almost upon us.
On www.cruisinbruce.com the 500 was featured on the winter projects page now located on the event photo page. I so can't wait to fire it up!!!!!!!
Carry on! March 07 Spring, sprungI would like to start this off with the following statement....................................I never want to compress another 428 coil spring ever again.
Let alone do it twice. However the deed is done and now I'm looking forward to getting the motor mounts and headers. Hopefully the warm(er) weather sticks around and I can get this motor installed. Don't get me wrong,I have a way to go in getting this running. I will be nice however to get the motor out from between the two cars. March 03 Winter Projectswww.cruisinbruce.com Yes that crazy guy is at it again. this time with a "project" theme on his site. First up ........Me!
Man, I can't wait for the weather to break and get out and go for a ride. February 21 brakes and batteryThe kit from inline tube came in and went in quite well. The bends were excellent and the fit all around was good. Except for the left rear line that one was not so good. The battery went in well too. The kit was from Jegs. All the lines are in and secured. Next is the springs and shocks. |
